Are you a trustee or member of the management committee/governing body of a charity, voluntary/community or faith group in Leeds, giving your time freely to lead your organisation? Do you want to learn more about your roles and responsibilities? Perhaps you are new to the role or not very experienced and would welcome a safe space to discuss issues and learn from others in a similar role, whilst developing and sharing your skills and experiences.
If so, then please join Voluntary Action Leeds’ recently formed network.
At an initial meeting with trustees they found that a key issue of concern was working as a team.
At their next network meeting Alex Peel (who has a wealth of experience of working with trustees over many years) will lead a discussion covering:
- The Code of Governance for Charities – which highlights the importance of the board/committee working together as an effective team in order to make informed decisions and ensure the charity is achieving its aims.
- What helps trustees to work together effectively? They will discuss common issues and share tips and examples of how they’ve solved problems.
The meeting will be taking place on Thursday 7 December, 10-12.30 at Voluntary Action Leeds.
VAL will also be looking at how they can support you further as a trustee and will be sharing useful resources.
Please note that Power of Communities is kindly funding this pilot project until mid 2024.
