Norman Campbell, who had a long career working in health with people with learning disabilities, died a few weeks ago from Covid-19.

Norman started work at the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) as a learning disability student nurse in February 1981 at Meanwood Park Hospital, and qualified in 1984. He went on to have a 27 year career at LYPFT and left in 2008 to become a Learning Disability Commissioning Manager for NHS Leeds Primary Care Trust, and subsequently Clinical Commissioning Groups. He stayed there until he retired in 2017 after 36 years dedicated to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities.

Norman’s favourite band was Deep Purple and he was partial to playing air guitar! Andy Rawnsley is compiling videos of people playing air guitar (or other instruments) to the tune of Smoke on the Water.

If anyone knew Norman and would like to contribute, or know of others who may want to, please capture a 5-10 second video of yourself (or them) on your phone and send it through to Andy on his personal number (07505 444828) ideally via Whatsapp. The videos will then be stitched together in time for Learning Disability Week (15th-21st June).
