Alison Lowe has announced she has made the very difficult decision to step down from her role as Volition Co-Chair and CEO of Touchstone. This is because the new West Yorkshire Metro Mayor, Tracy Brabin, will be recommending Alison to the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel as her candidate to become the Deputy Mayor for Policing.

At Volition and Forum Central we want to say a massive congratulations to Tracy, and to Alison, who will be fantastic in this role and has been such an inspiring, challenging and proactive co-chair of Volition, enabling us to achieve so much for our diverse members supporting communities across Leeds.

Alison has had a massive influence through the years she has dedicated to working in the Third Sector in Leeds, as a local ward councillor and as chair of the VCSE reference group of the West Yorkshire & Harrogate review into tackling health inequalities for Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and colleagues.

Alison’s willingness to share her own experiences of mental health and as a Black woman will be a huge asset to the work of the Mayor and is a strong statement about the commitment to our shared priorities for inclusion, justice and fairness.

Thank you for all you have done, Alison – you will be hugely missed.
