Job Title: Community Engagement and Development Worker HIV Prevention Service
Location: Leeds, remote working initially
Salary: £22,183 per annum pro rata, Scale 5, SCP 12 (Actual per annum salary for 21 hours per week contract is £13,309.80)
Hours: 21 hours per week
Length of Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2022

BHA offer a range of unique services delivered at local, regional, and national level in the areas of health promotion, community health education and engaging and involving communities in health and social care decision making.
This position involves developing and delivering community engagement activities with individuals, community groups, religious and community leaders, other health providers/services and the business sectors. These will be a combination of online and face to face.
The post-holder will support people to develop their skills and knowledge to use the internet to access information, use digital tools to enable their ability to remain connected and improve their health and wellbeing. They will work with our target communities with the aim of helping them to become more digitally engaged.
The role will involve dissemination of key sexual health promotion and HIV prevention messages, including those addressing stigma and barriers to services, delivered through community-based outreach, one-to-one and group-based interventions (including HIV screening/testing services) to prevent ill health and improve the health and well-being of individuals, populations, and communities.
The post holder will have a wide understanding of African culture and of perceptions amongst African communities in England relating to HIV.
