The Changing TIDES study team is looking for Black, Asian and minority ethnic healthcare and allied healthcare professionals at all levels interested in joining its study as co-researchers or advisory board members.

The ESRC-funded Changing TIDES project builds on the existing Wellcome Trust-funded Tackling Inequalities and Discrimination Experiences in health services (TIDES) study led by Professor Stephani Hatch at King’s College London. Changing TIDES includes representatives from the NHS England Workforce Race Equality Standard, the NHS Confederation, NHS England and NHS Improvement, and Black Thrive as collaborators. It aims to:

  • Identify ethnic inequalities in mental health and occupational outcomes amongst NHS staff.
  • Understand how COVID-19 exacerbates such inequalities, and the processes through which inequalities are produced, maintained and resisted.
  • Develop a Race Equality Impact Assessment toolkit, as well as education and Virtual Reality training resources targeted at improving BAME staff experiences, retention and relevant NHS policies. 

All necessary training and support for the role will be provided, and individuals will be paid for their time.
