Overview of the role 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to work as part of the Forum Central comms team on a part-time basis for 3 months with a view to extend. The post-holder will support our day to day communications – mainly focussed on; social media content creation, and website and database maintenance and updates. We are a supportive and flexible employer and the role can be tailored around your strengths! You should be proactive and have a great eye for detail. The role would best suit someone with experience working in the third sector in Leeds.

This role will be working closely with the Forum Central Communications Manager, providing day to day communications support to the team and organisational partnership. Sharing and promoting the work of Forum Central, our member organisations and advocating on behalf of the third sector and Leeds’ communities. 

This is an interesting and varied role which gives the opportunity for the successful candidate to work across a number of different areas of our work to utilise and develop their communication skills, working closely with a small team of passionate colleagues.

  • Salary: Scale 4 SCP 9 -11, starting at £25,119 (pro-rata)
  • Hours: 17.5 hours per week
  • Contract: 3 months Fixed Term until 30 September 2024 (view to extend subject to funding)

Key responsibilities

Communications Support

  • To undertake website administration and make updates to the MindWell and Forum Central websites.
  • To contribute to the production and sending of the Forum Central bi-weekly email bulletin and specialism bulletins.
  • To collate and create content for social media including, where applicable; sourcing imagery and photos, editing graphics, producing news and blog items, and potentially writing articles for media publication.
  • To work closely with the Communications Manager for Forum Central supporting both internal and external communications.
  • Design work on Canva and using powerpoint and google slides to produce reports and presentations to support our external and internal communications (training can be provided).
  • Assist with membership database management systems and maintaining up to date contacts and mailing preference lists.
  • Support team members with planning, promotion and successful execution of events, as well as capturing and sharing learning and takeaways.

General Duties

  • To attend and contribute to team meetings and team away days, where appropriate.
  • To undertake regular supervision and training as appropriate.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.
  • To be aware of and follow Volition’s policies and procedures.
