Dance On Leeds

//Dance On Leeds

Dance On is a new initiative funded by Sport England and One Dance UK to engage and tackle inactivity in older people that will create dance programmes across Leeds, Bradford and Doncaster.

There are three classes scheduled to start in January 2019:

  • Chapeltown: Wednesdays at 10.45am starting January 9 (download flyer)
  • Harehills: Wednesdays at 2.30pm starting January 9 (download flyer)
  • Upper Headingley: Mondays at 11am starting January 28 (download flyer)

Dance On is supported by research with Leeds University into the benefits dance classes can have in reducing physical inactivity and improving cognitive, mental and physical well-being.

Health is determined primarily by a range of social, economic and environmental factors and dance classes can be an excellent way to address people’s needs in a holistic way.

The goal at Yorkshire Dance is to set up 15 dance classes across Leeds for older dancers over the next two years. These classes will be tailored to individual needs with a goal to have fun and get healthy.
