Carers Leeds has several projects that support older carers with digital and social confidence.
The organisation runs a Digital Inclusion project which aims to give digitally excluded carers access to free digital devices, training and support fit to suit them. There is a simple digital assessment carried out by phone which determines the best digital support plan for the carer.
This support may include access to a tablet, written instruction guides, and one-to-one telephone or face-to-face support helping carers set up devices and use them confidently.
Carers Leeds also offers the Connections project. Connections encourages older carers to connect and build support networks with others who have similar lived experiences. On offer are both one-to-one and group support. The one-to-one support works with the carer to set out personal goals, this might be connecting with an old hobby or trying a new one.
The Connections worker researches groups taking place across Leeds and signposts/supports carers to attend. More information on this can be found here: https://www.carersleeds.org.
