Forum Central – one month in

/, Learning Disability/Forum Central – one month in

Forum Central – the single health and social care forum in Leeds – has been up and running for just over a month, and we want to let you know what we have been up to.

Hopefully you won’t have noticed any big changes to the services we provide, but behind the scenes we have been working hard to streamline and develop our joint approach across Volition, Tenfold, Leeds Older People’s Forum and the PSI Network.

Systems
We’ve been developing new shared systems and processes, looking at everything from our internal and external communications, IT systems, shaping the office culture and working out how our Board members are engaged in the governance of Forum Central. We are also working with our commissioners to develop a streamlined approach to monitoring.

Branding
As soon as we can we will have a new Forum Central brand, including a logo, and a website, which will make finding anything to do with the health and social care agenda in Leeds easier to find and be accessible anywhere as we plan to make the site mobile friendly. We will keep you posted!

Health and Wellbeing Board Representative
One of the key things we have already done is to recruit to the new third sector representative position on the Health and Wellbeing Board. There was a lot of interest in this strategic position for the sector, we are now meeting short-listed candidates, so look out for the announcement about who is successful soon.

Physical & Sensory Impairment (PSI) Network
Forum Central has been supporting the PSI Board to develop a new work-plan. One of the first tasks is an event for third sector disability organisations taking place on Monday 6 Juneplease book and find out more here

Leeds Older People’s Forum (LOPF)
Leeds Older People’s Forum and the Time to Shine Team had a celebratory event on 4 May at West Yorkshire Playhouse to mark the first birthday of the Time to Shine programme, and they also hosted a half-day event on consortia development at the request of a number of member organisations.

Coming soon from LOPF is the launch of International Day of Older People 2016 small grants, and their AGM on Thursday 21 July.

Tenfold
Tenfold supported the Leeds Learning Disability Partnership Board, and was a delivery partner in a big cross-partner event looking at employment, social opportunities and supporting friendships and transport issues for people with a learning disability.

For Learning Disability Week Tenfold is hosting a massive Market Place event called Get Connected! on Tuesday 21 June at West Yorkshire Playhouse – for more information and book a stall visit the event page

Volition
Volition has delivered a Crisis in Mental Health workshop, which brought together 50 member organisations all supporting people in Leeds to prevent mental health crises to influence the ongoing development of mental health services in Leeds. As lead partner for the new contract they are busy keeping on top of developing the new work arrangements.

Other events that you might want to make a note of include: a mini-briefing and scoping session looking at the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) for Leeds and West Yorkshire on Friday 20 May.

At this meeting there will be an overview of what the STP is but then a discussion around what are the third sector solutions to many of the challenges that the health system is facing, how could the third sector deliver the outcomes that a new health system needs etc. To book a place, please email: info@voltion.org.uk.

We want to keep you, our members, in the loop about what is happening with Forum Central, and hope you have found this update useful. If you have any suggestions or queries, please let us know.
