How time flies! We’re already in to August, so we thought it was timely to give you a quick Forum Central update.

As Forum Central members you will have received our email updates on the STP (Sustainability and Transformation Plan) and we have also recently launched the Health and Social care leaders network – you are welcomed to get involved and have your voice heard in these important discussions.
We are pleased to now have Forum Central website holding page available visit it at: forumcentral.deliciousdemo.co.uk

The International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) 2016 Community Grants have been allocated. Sixteen organisations have been awarded grants of up to £200 to celebrate IDOP between 29 September and 10 October. Some of these events are open to the public look out for details. The International Day of Older Persons was set up by the United Nations in 1990 and is celebrated worldwide on 1 October every year.
The PSI Network held its first meeting as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in June. 40 people representing 21 third sector disability organisations attended. Updates from Sinead Cregan, Adult Social Care Commissioning Manager and about the Forum Central partnership were followed by a chance to discuss ideas for the PSI Network’s work plan. The need to network and to better understand the range of third sector services for disabled people came through as top priorities. But action is also needed on issues including employment, social isolation and carers.
Since then, the PSI Network has been busy recruiting new members – more are welcome! Third sector organisations that work with and support disabled people should get in touch with Gill Crawshaw – email firstname.lastname@example.org
As part of this year’s action packed Leeds Learning Disability Week, Tenfold hosted the Get Connected! Market Place event, held at West Yorkshire Playhouse. It was an amazing day with over 60 stallholders and an estimated 500 people attending the event. From the second the doors opened at 10am there was a huge buzz and energy, and the Playhouse was thronging with people all day.
The event hosted a number of pop-up activities, saw the launch of the Safe Places app and included this year’s Partnership Board AGM, with speakers representing strategy leads (Being Safe, Being Well and Being Connected), presenting highlights of the year’s achievement in the world of learning disability.
“I can’t believe how busy it’s been – we’ve never stopped talking to people all day!” 3rd sector stall holder
Volition members continue to be involved in all the development work going on to improve mental health services in Leeds. The work on the four priorities, led by Leeds North CCG is entering the next phase and Volition are keen to support the strong leadership we have in the city on mental health to continue.
There has been much work led by mHabitat, and funded by the Leeds CCGs (Clinical Commissioning Groups), to develop a new mental health information portal: Mindwell. The website aims to provide better information about mental health and the services on offer in Leeds – look out for opportunities to get involved.
And finally, date for the diary: 14 September, is the Volition AGM, all members are welcome invitations and more details coming soon.
