The Government recently published updated guidance for supporting adults with learning disabilities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first piece of guidance is provided for care staff who provide support to adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, to help them to understand the changes they need to make during the COVID-19 outbreak, and to protect their own wellbeing. It builds on the COVID-19 adult social care action plan and more detailed guidance published by the Social Care Institute for Excellence.

Separate guidance is aimed at those who provide unpaid care, such as friends or family, to adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. This guidance builds on the guidance for those who provide unpaid care to friends or family and more detailed guidance published by the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE), which will continue to be updated with resources to support those who care for people with learning disabilities and autistic people.
