/, Learning Disability/Meet our new member – Lighthouse Futures Trust

Forum Central is pleased to welcome our new member Lighthouse Futures Trust. The organisation has joined Tenfold, one of the four partner organisations in Forum Central.

Lighthouse Futures Trust is a charity providing resources and employment opportunities for 16 – 25 year olds in Leeds with Autistic Spectrum Condition and/or learning difficulties. These young people only have a 5.8% chance of sustainable employment (National Stats Mencap).

We are respected nationally by the DfE local authorities, special schools and colleges. They refer the young people who would otherwise not be in Education Employment or Training on to our programmes. We deliver supported internships on behalf of Leeds City Council and are on their post 16-25 strategy group for complex needs.

The charity was set up by a group of parents to support the students of ‘Lighthouse School’ in Cookridge, the first special free school in the country. We also run the Keepers Coffee and Kitchen a Social Enterprise Coffee and Gift Shop providing training, volunteer and employment opportunities. Visit the shop at: 76 Otley Old Rd, Cookridge, Leeds, LS16 6LQ.
