MAECare is one of the highly acclaimed Neighbourhood Network Schemes in Leeds and works with older people living in the area of Alwoodley, Moortown and Shadwell. It has 11 staff and approximately 90 volunteers working together to provide a range of services and activities.

MAECare activities are aimed at alleviating social isolation and promoting independence. It delivers activities across the area that range from Art to Zumba Gold and supports the development of healthy physical and mental well-being. It also has a training and support scheme for its many volunteers.

Making a Match matches socially isolated older people with like-minded people through friendship groups to develop their social networks and reduce their isolation.  It starts with people’s interests as a basis for friendship. It is based on a peer support model.
