100% Digital Leeds are running a free course to give you the skills you need to be able to support the people you’re working with to engage with digital and get online.
Attend this fun and informal course to find about the best digital apps, tools, and resources you can use to motivate others to engage with digital. You’ll leave confident and ready to support people with low digital skills and confidence, reducing potential fears about engaging with the online world and making it enjoyable and fun!
Attendees can book on to individual sessions its recommend to attend the full course. Each session is repeated in the morning (11am – 12noon) and afternoon (2 – 3pm) so you can choose the time that suits you best.
Session 1: Frauds and Scams Monday 01 November
Find out more about online scams and how to keep yourself and others safe. The session will include identifying fraudsters’ common tactics and understanding how you can help people protect themselves from scams relating to things like online shopping, email hacks, pension scams, and financial scams.
Session 2: Digital Basics Monday 08 November
Find out how to help someone set up their device in a way that makes it easiest for them to use and get them started with the essentials, like searching the internet and using email. Find out what consider when setting up organisational devices to make them as user-friendly and accessible as possible, and how to make the best use of them across your service.
Session 3: Platforms Monday 15 November
Find out how to make best use of a range of digital platforms to communicate with people and help them keep in touch with friends and family and other social activity. Find out how you can use platforms like Zoom and Teams to deliver your services remotely.
Session 4: Entertainment Monday 22 November
Find out about a whole host of fun digital tools and resources linked to people’s hobbies and interests and how you can use them to inspire people to take their first steps with digital. Examples will include a 360 Degree tour of Buckingham Palace, Radio Station apps, and a range of games.
Session 5: Digital Wings Monday 29 November
Find out about our partner’s free online learning platform and how you can use it to develop your own skills and confidence and that of your wider team, as well as to support others.
Session 6: Christmas Fun Monday 06 December
A themed session where you can find out about the various free fun, and festive-themed tools and resources you can use to embed digital into your Christmas events calendar. Perfect for bringing some digital pizazz to your Christmas parties, lunches, craft sessions, and quiz afternoons.
