Organisation: The Market Place Leeds

Job Title: Clerk to the Board

Salary: Voluntary role (the board is willing to cover reasonable expenses incurred, including travel to board meetings)

Hours: 2-3 hours per month, to start as soon as possible

The Market Place Board of Trustees is looking for an enthusiastic, efficient and positive person to facilitate and support their work. Some experience of working with young people, or of social work or counselling would be helpful, as would experience of working for a charity or being a trustee of a charity.

While not onerous, the role carries significant responsibility, including the handling of sensitive and privileged material:
– Acting as clerk for meetings of the board (around 6 per annum, usually held within The Market Place premises on New Market Street, LS1 6DG). This includes setting the calendar of meetings, emailing out agendas, and taking, producing and filing copies of minutes.
– Facilitating the process of trustee appointments and resignations, monitoring the terms of office of trustees and maintaining copies of up to date forms and declarations relating to trustee appointments.
– Maintaining a record of all policies approved by the Board and monitoring review dates to ensure policies are reviewed in a systematic and timely manner.
– To assist the administration and finance team with the approval and submission of annual returns to both The Charity Commission and Companies House. Full training and a comprehensive induction will be offered.

Given the nature of the role and the work of the charity, a self-declaration form and DBS check will be required prior to appointment.
