Help reduce social isolation and loneliness for 15,000+ older people in Leeds

Out of the Shadows: Time to Shine is managed by Leeds Older People’s Forum (LOPF) and funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better programme to reduce social isolation and loneliness amongst people over 50.

Time to Shine selects partners across Leeds to deliver unique and creative projects that engage socially isolated people. Within the programme is robust external local and national evaluation to test and learn from the approaches and inform future work.

Leeds is one of 14 Ageing Better areas, selected from an original 100 in England. LOPF secured £6 million from Big Lottery Fund to reach more than 15,000 older people in the city by 2021.

Communications Group – what’s involved?

The terms of reference will be agreed by the group, as a guide, and the group will delve into communications for the Time to Shine programme, supporting the staff team and core partnership. As a minimum requirement the group will meet on a regular basis. You may want to volunteer for parts of the work as it develops.

Skills and experience

We welcome interest from across the third, private and statutory sectors and individuals with some of the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Developing and periodically reviewing a communications plan
  • Internal communications systems
  • Developing campaigns on social issues
  • Identifying opportunities for publicity
  • Distributing relevant monitoring data to share good news and lessons learnt
  • Reputation management and responding to negative publicity
  • Branding
  • Social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)

Please email jim@opforum.org.uk to express your interest. Tell us a bit about yourself, your background and why this opportunity appeals to you, and we’ll arrange a time to meet.

As older people are at the heart of Time to Shine we would particularly welcome applications from people 50+ with the skills and knowledge to drive this group forward.
