We thought we’d draw your attention to an interesting blog on the Airport Parking Shop website. Mental Health and Me: What it’s like to travel with a mental illness contains some interesting figures and quotes from the website’s research with people who suffer mental health problems.
They sent out a survey over social media earlier this year, with questions designed to get an idea of what travelling was like and what issues may be faced by those with an illness, their family members or carers alike. They say:
“The answers sometimes shocked us and broke our hearts, but we were equally warmed by the sense of community and the openness and honesty of everyone that took part.”
The article touches on everything from personal anecdotes to quotes from mental health charities, and insurance to tips on travelling with a mental illness.
It’s a great story because I had seen something similar a few years ago when travelled to France. There was one passenger who had some issues in the middle of the flight and if I am right he was travelling with his mom or something who tried to help him in many ways. It was scary for the moment because of what he said, but then we were all amazed how great stewardess did her job by calm him. It really good when in the plane is not the only person who serves food, but also can help people with their minds or physical pain.
