We are pleased to announce that Volition has been decided as the name of our organisation going forward, and we continue alongside our partners Leeds Older People’s Forum to work together as Forum Central. The decision follows discussions with members, as well as the board and staff team, and a vote ratified at our AGM on 9th April.

Members who voted for the name Volition told us that they felt it is a strong word, which is reflective of how we – and you, our members – work, supporting people across our learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, physical and sensory impairment specialisms to be able to live the lives they choose, and raising the voice, profile and influence of the health and care third sector across our specialism areas and wider.

Strengthening our partnership work across physical and mental health and wellbeing, learning disabilities and physical and sensory impairment organisations has been a huge achievement. Our individual members, people across our diverse communities and the city as a whole have benefited from this collaboration, and working closely with our partners Leeds Older People’s Forum through Forum Central enhances our health and wellbeing offer as a sector too.

In the coming months we will be developing a new logo and branding, that truly reflects who we are now as a member-led organisation, and our mission to champion the work of the third sector. As ever, we want to include you, our members, in this work too, so we continue to share updates on how to get involved.

Although we are all facing unprecedented times as we navigate the COVID-19 emergency, as a staff team we are finding much hope in hearing from you about all the ways you are adapting to support people facing the greatest health inequalities in Leeds, and we hope that we can continue to build on our combined strengths, as the ‘new Volition’ to support you to better navigate the day to day challenges you’re facing.

As ever, please do keep in touch, and keep telling us what matters most to you and how we can continually improve our offer to you

Thank you for all of your support,

Daisy, Gillian, Jez, Karen, Karl, Lucy, Nicola, Pip and Zoe
