Touchstone will be integrating peer support into the new contract for the Leeds Mental Wellbeing Service to provide support for people accessing the service.

Touchstone are offering volunteer opportunities to people who have lived experience of a mental health problem to help provide this new part of the service.

The first round of volunteer training starts on Thursday 6th February and they plan to run further ones through the year, with the next one starting at the end of April/beginning of May.

Touchstone have a number of available spaces on this training that they can now offer outside of their service, so please consider this for the people you are coming to the end of working with.

This could be a key part of their recovery and help to move on to supporting others.

The 6 week training programme covers topics such as:

  • Understanding the service and the role,
  • Building positive relationships and how to deliver peer support,
  • Ensuring yours and the clients safety
  • How to look after yourself when you are helping others

If you have any one who is interested you can email the team on [email protected] or contact the office on 0113 216 3000 to speak to Sally Poyser or Mark Neesom.
