How Leeds Is Taking Part

The annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign returns from 25 November to 10 December 2025. The international campaign calls for action to end violence against women and girls and raises awareness of the support available in communities.

This year’s global theme is “Unite to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls.” Digital forms of abuse remain one of the fastest-growing areas of gender-based violence, and the campaign highlights the need for safety, accountability and equality across online spaces.

White Ribbon Day – 25 November

White Ribbon Day marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism. Everyone – and especially men – is encouraged to make the White Ribbon Promise:
Never to use, excuse, or stay silent about violence against women.

The 2025 theme is “We Speak Up – Letting sexism slide puts women and girls at risk.” Everyday behaviours such as sexist jokes, catcalling, comments, and unwanted staring may seem small, but they contribute to cultures where abuse can escalate. Speaking up early helps prevent harm.
