Digital inclusion

Digital Inclusion Networks

Facilitated in partnership with 100% Digital Leeds and member organisations, these networks provide a space for people from member organisations across our specialisms of Learning Disabilities, Older People and PSI to come together to promote and improve digital inclusion and participation, supporting the ambition to make Leeds the most digitally inclusive city for everyone.

The networks have been running since the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic and brought people together to discuss how to support people who use their services to remain together and connected to health, wellbeing and community based organisations during lockdown and restricted times. Networks have since evolved and work plans are shaped by member need.

Third Sector Visibility Project

Report coming soon

Provision and translation of core activities

Across the pandemic, third sector organisations within Leeds have adapted their support offer in tune with guidance and good practice. The benefits and challenges for the sector were explored in ‘The New Different’ project delivered by Forum Central. This adjustment in methods and means of service and support delivery has provided opportunities and challenges for organisations and the communities they serve. It has also had immediate and ongoing implications for organisations in terms of development of digital infrastructure (e.g., devices, broadband provision), but also staff training to support the growth in skills, confidence, and trust in digital provision.

Data sharing and information Governance support

The Third Sector plays an increasingly critical role within the health and care system. Third Sector organisations may receive referrals from public sector organisations, but a lack of data sharing infrastructure can limit how joined up collaboration between partners can be.

Forum Central worked with colleagues in Leeds City Council and the NHS on a pilot project, supporting a cohort of Third Sector organisations to improve their information governance compliance, to support access to information sharing systems commonly used by statutory partners.

This work was summarised in a presentation delivered as part of Leeds Digital Festival in 2021 entitled  Information Governance Compliance for The Third Sector
