The criticism is that it is a large generalisation which emphasises certain ethnic minority groups and excludes others. Best practise is to be specific about the population you are referring to or if generalising, use the terms, culturally diverse communities or Global Majority.
BLBBetter Lives BoardBrings together Leeds City Council’s Adults and Health Directorate and people with lived experience of Health and Care support/services.
BLCBig Leeds ChatThe Big Leeds Chat is a way of listening to people in Leeds. It brings together the most senior decision makers in health and care, working together as one health and care team to talk to members of the public, of all ages and backgrounds, about what matters to them.
BLMBlack Lives MatterA world-wide movement that aims to highlight racism, discrimination, and racial inequality experienced by black people and to promote anti-racism.
CEVClinically Extremely VulnerableA cohort of people who are at high risk of severe illness from coronavirus and have been advised to shield at certain points of the pandemic to reduce their risk of catching the virus.
CICCommunity Interest CompanyA Third Sector organisation which is a social enterprise that uses profits and assets for the public good. CICs are intended to be easy to set up, with all the flexibility and certainty of the company form, but with some special features to ensure they are working for the benefit of the community.
