Organisations in Leeds are invited to apply for funding through the Leeds Fast-Track Cities Health Improvement Fund, with grants of up to £57,000 available for projects that help tackle HIV, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis (TB).
The fund has been developed by the Leeds Fast-Track Cities partnership and supports the city’s commitment to ending HIV, viral hepatitis and TB epidemics by 2030.
Leeds became the first city in Yorkshire and Humber to join the global Fast-Track Cities initiative in 2023, bringing together NHS, local authority and third sector partners around a shared ambition to reduce infections, improve access to testing and treatment, and eliminate stigma.
What Can Be Funded?
Applications must focus on one or more of the following priorities:
• Enhance testing and treatment
• Reduce new infections
• Combat HIV, TB and viral hepatitis stigma and discrimination
• Support community-led responses
• Promote integrated health services
• Foster innovation
The fund is designed to support projects that raise awareness, improve access to services, strengthen community engagement and help address inequalities in health outcomes.
Why This Matters
Leeds has already achieved the UNAIDS 95:95:95 HIV targets, meaning high levels of diagnosis, treatment and viral suppression. However, partners across the city recognise that more work is needed to reduce new infections, tackle stigma and ensure people can access testing and treatment as early as possible.
The Fast-Track Cities programme places a strong emphasis on partnership working, innovation and community-led approaches, recognising the important role that VCSE organisations play in reaching communities, raising awareness and reducing health inequalities.
