We invite you to a free event organised by The Advonet Group this summer. It takes place on Friday 13 June from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm and aims to show how empowering people through self-advocacy approaches can help support people and communities in Leeds. You are welcome to come to all or part of the event.

On the day, we will have:

Talks about how using self-advocacy approaches can benefit your communities, including from organisations who received grants from the Advocacy Development Fund. Talks will be from Leeds Refugee Forum and Lippy People.

We will also have four workshops on the following topics:

  • How self-advocacy approaches and tools can support communities
  • Health Complaints Advocacy: Helping to improve your healthcare services
  • Empowering people with learning disabilities
  • Increasing access to services for autistic adults

There will also be:

  • Free lunch and networking opportunities
  • Stalls and information

We will send more details out closer to the date. Here is a rough schedule of what’s happening when:

  • 9:30am-10am: Registration and refreshments
  • 10am-11:15am: Talks
    • Using advocacy and self-advocacy approaches to support your communities
    • Presentations from Leeds Refugee Forum and Lippy People
  • 11:30am-12:30pm: Workshops
  • 12:45pm-1:30pm: Lunch and networking
