Applications are now open for the next Leeds Health and Wellbeing Training Programme, a free accredited course designed for people who are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of communities across Leeds.
Delivered by public health specialists, the programme offers an opportunity to learn alongside colleagues from a range of sectors while developing practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in everyday work.
The programme is open to anyone involved in improving the health and wellbeing of people and communities in Leeds, including VCSE organisations, public sector colleagues, community groups and volunteers.
About the Programme
The Leeds Health and Wellbeing Training Programme explores the principles and practice of public health, helping participants understand the factors that influence health and wellbeing and how positive change can be achieved.
The course is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health and is delivered through monthly half-day sessions over eight months.
Previous participants have described the programme as an opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities, learn new approaches and connect with inspiring people from across the city.

- Public health theory and key concepts
- Health inequalities and their impact
- Partnership working
- Understanding and using data
- Community development approaches
- Behaviour change
- Monitoring and evaluation
- Personal effectiveness and leadership
- Current public health challenges and opportunities
Participants will also gain a greater understanding of how public health principles can be applied within their own organisations and communities.

Sessions take place from 9:30am to 1pm at the Public Health Resource Centre, Technorth, Leeds, LS7 3NB.

26 May 2027 at Leeds Civic Hall
Participants are expected to attend a minimum of six sessions plus the final Masterclass.

The programme is open to anyone involved in improving the health and wellbeing of people and communities in Leeds across all sectors, including volunteers.
Whether you are new to public health or looking to build on existing experience, the programme offers practical learning that can support both professional development and community impact.
