Grants of up to £20,000 are available through the Asda Foundation Local Community Spaces Fund to help charities and community interest companies repair, renovate and improve local community spaces.
The fund supports spaces that play a vital role in bringing people together, including work that helps address loneliness and social isolation.

What the funding supports
Funding is available for projects that make community spaces safer, more accessible and fit for purpose.
This includes:
- Essential repairs and maintenance (e.g. roofs, floors, heating)
- Improvements to facilities (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms)
- Accessibility upgrades (e.g. ramps)
- Security improvements
- Upgrades to windows and doors
- Improvements to outdoor community spaces
Projects should support ongoing community use and help organisations expand or improve their offer.
Who can apply
The fund is open to:
- Registered charities (established for at least 3 years)
- Community Interest Companies (CICs) registered for at least 3 years
Organisations must:
- Be not-for-profit
- Have an annual income between £40,000 and £400,000
- Have unrestricted reserves of no more than 6 months
- Run a community space that is open and accessible year-round
- Own the building or have at least 3 years remaining on a lease
Eligible spaces include community centres, youth centres and venues supporting vulnerable groups such as food banks, older people and homelessness services.
Important restrictions
The fund will not support:
- Schools or PTAs
- Organisations outside the UK
- Groups with income above £400,000 or below £40,000
- Projects focused only on decoration or non-essential items
- Core costs, staffing or project management
- Sports pitches or single-use clubhouses
- Vehicles or mobile structures
Some projects in more affluent areas may be less likely to be funded unless a strong need is demonstrated.
