The Leeds Volunteer Managers’ Network has launched a brand-new photo competition to shine a light on the incredible volunteers who give their time and energy to support communities across Leeds.

Run in partnership with Hyde Park Source, Creative Capture volunteers, and Leeds City Museum, the project aims to showcase the breadth and diversity of volunteering in our city — from health and environmental projects to arts, sport, equality, and community engagement.

This exciting initiative builds on the success of Volunteers of Leeds, which celebrates volunteering in all its forms. Through this photo competition, the Network wants to capture what volunteering looks and feels like — the joy, commitment and community spirit that make such a difference every day.

Winning photographs will be displayed in a special exhibition at Leeds City Museum in summer 2026, celebrating the faces and stories behind local volunteering. One winner will be selected from each of the 17 categories, including older people’s volunteering, youth work, environmental action, equality and human rights, and more.

The competition is open to anyone involved in coordinating or supporting volunteers within Leeds. You can submit multiple entries under different categories, but each one will need its own form and photo submission.

Deadline: Friday 1 March 2026
How to enter: Complete the short form and email your photo and caption to [email protected]
