The Creative Health Board Learning Network has officially launched, bringing together partners from across health, culture, local authorities, charities, services and research to drive forward the Creative Health movement nationally.

The first session, held on 13 January, introduced the aims of the network and shared a new infographic, Creative Health Boards: A guide to getting started, built around eight core themes.

  • Leadership Buy-In

  • Sustainability

  • Building Trust

  • Workforce Development

  • Evidence

  • Lived Experience

  • Accountability

  • Policy Alignment

Participants were asked to prioritise these themes. Leadership Buy-In emerged as the highest priority, followed by Lived Experience and Policy Alignment. Evidence and Building Trust sat in the middle, with Sustainability, Workforce Development and Accountability completing the list.

The remainder of the session focused on setting priorities for the network. Breakout discussions explored how creative health can be strengthened at system level, and feedback is now helping shape the network’s next phase of development.

Creative Health Boards aim to embed culture and creativity within health and care systems as part of tackling inequalities and improving population wellbeing.

This work aligns with local developments in Leeds. The Leeds Arts Health and Wellbeing Network (LAHWN) recently published the Creative Health in Leeds Report, which highlights the contribution of creative health activity across the city and sets out priorities for strengthening collaboration and impact.
