Leeds Mind is delivering a series of free workshops designed to support frontline staff working in community settings to develop a deeper understanding of self-harm.

The workshops have been shaped by lived experience and informed by feedback from people who self-harm or have self-harmed, alongside insights from families, friends and frontline workers. This approach helps ensure the sessions are grounded in real experiences and practical learning.

The training focuses on understanding what self-harm really is, challenging common myths, exploring why people self-harm and looking at how to offer support in a compassionate and effective way. It also places strong emphasis on helping staff look after their own psychological wellbeing while supporting others.

The programme includes:

  • An introduction to self-harm (full day or half day)

  • Compassion and communication (half day)

  • Empowerment and reflection (half day)

These workshops are free to attend and are aimed at frontline staff working within the community across Leeds.

The sessions, delivered by Leeds Mind, are committed to making its training as accessible as possible. Participants are encouraged to get in touch directly if they wish to discuss any accessibility needs.
