Have Your Say on the Name of a New NHS Organisation

People across Leeds and beyond are being invited to help choose the name of a new NHS organisation that will be created through the merger of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.

The two organisations are working towards becoming a single integrated Trust from 1 April 2027, subject to formal approvals. NHS England has now approved the next stage of the process, allowing plans for the new organisation to be developed further.

As part of this work, a public vote has been launched to help identify a name for the new integrated Trust.

Why Does the Name Matter?

Choosing the right name is an important step in creating a new organisation. The name will help provide clarity for patients, staff, partners and the public, while reflecting the services and communities the Trust serves.

NHS organisations must follow national naming guidelines, meaning the new Trust name must be selected from a shortlist of suitable and compliant options.

The Shortlisted Names

Participants are being asked to choose their preferred option from the following shortlist:

  • Leeds Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (LHFT)
  • Leeds NHS Foundation Trust (LFT)
  • Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT)
  • Leeds Mental Health and Community NHS Foundation Trust (LMHCFT)

The online vote also includes an opportunity to provide additional comments and feedback.

Have Your Say

The organisations are encouraging staff, service users, carers, partners and members of the public to take part.

While the vote itself is not binding, the feedback received will help inform the final recommendation that is taken forward for approval.

The vote closes at midnight on Sunday 21 June 2026.
