Leeds Older People’s Forum and the University of Leeds are looking for older adults with lived experience of gambling harm to help shape a new research project exploring the links between stress and gambling harms in later life.

The project aims to better understand the experiences and circumstances that can contribute to gambling-related harm among older people. Crucially, people with direct experience will play a central role in shaping the research itself, helping to influence the questions asked, the methods used and the outputs produced.

Organisers are keen to hear from people aged 55 and over who have been affected by gambling harm, either personally or through someone close to them, such as a family member, partner or friend.

Why Get Involved?

Too often, research is carried out about communities rather than with them. This project takes a different approach, placing lived experience at the heart of the work.

By joining the research panel, participants will help ensure that the realities of gambling harm in later life are better understood and reflected in future research, policy and support services.

What’s Involved?

Participants will be invited to take part in a workshop where they will help shape the direction of the research project.
