The 2025 Unpaid Carers Survey is still open and unpaid carers in Leeds are encouraged to take part.
Led by Carers Leeds, the survey helps build a clearer picture of carers’ experiences and priorities, and directly informs how support for unpaid carers is shaped across the city. The survey remains open until Friday 30 January 2026 and takes only a few minutes to complete.
Why your voice matters
Last year, 536 unpaid carers responded to the survey. Their feedback highlighted a number of ongoing challenges:
-
60% of unpaid carers were most worried about their own health and wellbeing
-
62% said caring negatively affects their physical health, and 72% their mental health
-
38% reported often or always feeling lonely
-
45% of working carers said having an understanding employer would help them manage work alongside caring responsibilities
There are an estimated 61,500 unpaid carers in Leeds. Increasing the number of responses helps ensure that carers’ voices are reflected in planning, commissioning and support services across the city.
This year also marks Carers Leeds’ 30th year, with an ambition to reach record participation levels to strengthen the evidence for future action.
