A significant new funding opportunity has opened for organisations working with young people in Leeds, with a single grant of over £120,000 available through the Lead the Change programme.
The fund aims to support youth-led initiatives that build confidence, strengthen community connections and improve life chances for young people.

What the funding supports
Lead the Change focuses on projects that place young people at the centre of design and delivery.
Projects should:
- Empower young people as leaders and changemakers
- Strengthen community connection and safety
- Build digital literacy and challenge harmful narratives
- Create pathways into skills, training and opportunity
Examples include youth-led community projects, safe spaces, mentoring and creative or digital initiatives.
Who can apply
This opportunity is for not-for-profit organisations based in and working in Leeds.
Applicants must:
- Have an annual turnover between £65,000 and £2 million
- Have at least three independent trustees or directors
- Have a track record of working with young people (under 18)
- Demonstrate strong safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
- Show how young people shape and lead the work
Organisations should be trusted within their communities and able to deliver sustained impact.
Applications from organisations led by people most impacted by racism, xenophobia and islamophobia are particularly encouraged.
Important to know
- Only one grant will be awarded in Leeds
- Funding does not cover core costs or large capital projects
- Projects must begin within three months of the award
- Applicants can only hold one Lead the Change grant
