The Weston Charity Awards 2026 are now open, offering a transformational support package for small and medium charities working across the North of England, the Midlands and Wales. The Awards are funded by the Garfield Weston Foundation and delivered in partnership with Pilotlight.

Each successful organisation receives over £22,000 worth of strategic support, combining leadership mentoring, organisational development and unrestricted funding. For many charities, this becomes a turning point in helping them grow, adapt and strengthen long-term resilience.

Why the Awards are valuable

Many VCSE organisations face increasing demand mixed with financial pressure. Leaders often have little capacity for long-term planning or strategic development. The Weston Charity Awards help to bridge that gap by offering structured support from experienced mentors who understand organisational complexity, governance and sustainability.

The Pilotlight 360 programme brings together a team of senior professionals who coach charity leaders through a full year of strategic development. This creates space for charities to step back, think differently and make stronger decisions.

What successful applicants receive

  • One year of leadership mentoring through the Pilotlight 360 programme

  • Strategic support on planning, governance, finances, operations and impact

  • Unrestricted grant funding to strengthen core capacity

  • Access to a peer network of previous Weston Award winners

  • Visibility and recognition, helping charities demonstrate quality and leadership
