Leeds Public Health are inviting third sector and community organisations to apply for funding to raise awareness of high blood pressure and provide blood pressure testing within local communities.
The communities they wish to target are:
- Armley
- Beeston & Middleton
- Bramley, Wortley & Middleton
All activity must be delivered between January – March 2025
Some groups of people are at higher risk of developing hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Grant funding should be used to specifically target at least one of the below populations:
- Those who live in the most deprived areas of Leeds
- People who smoke
- People living with obesity (BMI over 30)
- People from Black African, African Caribbean and South Asian heritage
- Men
Funding can include, but is not limited to:
- Blood pressure monitors
- Venue costs
- Publicity and printing costs for materials (leaflets, posters, etc.)
- Other equipment or materials that might be needed as part of a project or event
- Volunteer expenses
- Staff time (including attending the training session in January)
Funding will not include:
- Activities that have happened before your grant is received.
- Costs associated with making your application for funding.
- Day to day running costs of your organisation.
- Projects with religious or political aims.
- Projects that take place outside of the 3 LCPs.
- Training staff on how to use a blood pressure machine (Leeds City Council will arrange and fund this)
Leeds Public Health will provide a training session for successful applicants outlining:
- How to take a person’s blood pressure
- What the readings mean – Check your blood pressure reading – NHS
- Where to signpost
- Opportunity to ask questions
- Co-led by colleagues with clinical and community experience
