Time Well Spent is a series of small-group workshops designed to support men aged 55 and above who are experiencing change in later life. The sessions offer time and space to reflect, share experiences, and develop practical ways to move forward with greater confidence and purpose.

As we age, changes such as retirement, shifting relationships, caring responsibilities or bereavement can affect our sense of identity and direction. Time Well Spent creates a supportive environment to explore these changes and plan how to address them.

What the workshops cover

The course provides space to reflect on past, present and future changes, including:

  • Retirement

  • Changes in working patterns

  • Relationship changes

  • New caring responsibilities

  • Family changes

  • Bereavement

Workshop highlights

Participants will explore:

  • The emotional impact of change, including reflecting on times when change has been navigated well

  • Relaxation techniques to help manage stress and regulate emotions

  • Mental wellbeing, including common mental health challenges and what they may mean personally

  • Emotional resilience, with a focus on self-care and stress management

  • Opportunities to connect with others and explore activities and support within the local area

Some sessions also include creative thinking activities to encourage reflection and imagination.

What to expect

Groups are kept small, with around 10 participants, to support discussion and connection. Workshops are interactive and include short presentations, group discussion and individual activities.

The sessions aim to create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where people feel comfortable sharing experiences and learning from one another.
