For the past 13 years, Healthwatch Leeds has played a key role in listening to local people and making sure their voices are heard in health and care planning.

Healthwatch Leeds is an independent organisation. It is not part of the NHS or the local authority. One of its main roles is to actively seek out people’s feedback on health and care services across the city. This includes talking to people in communities and visiting settings such as hospital clinics, wards and care homes.

What Healthwatch Leeds hears from local people is used to influence real change. This happens through formal requests for responses from service providers, as well as through involvement in strategic boards and committees across the Leeds health and care system. Healthwatch Leeds also runs an information and advice service, helping people understand their options, rights and where to get support when accessing services.

You can find out more about their work on the Healthwatch Leeds website.

You can also read about the impact of their work through their published annual reports.

Why your views matter now

As part of the recent Dash review, the government has proposed changes that could result in Healthwatch organisations across the country ending from 2027. If this were to happen, there would no longer be a dedicated independent organisation championing local people’s voices in health and care in Leeds.

Whatever the outcome nationally, senior health and care leaders in Leeds have stated a clear commitment to maintaining an independent voice for local people. This survey is an opportunity for you to help shape what that independent voice could look like in the future.

Take part in the survey

The survey is the main way to share your views and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

The survey will remain open until 28 February 2026.
