Compassionate Leeds Trauma-Informed Practice – Upcoming Event
Compassionate Leeds is continuing its programme of trauma-informed practice sessions, bringing together professionals and practitioners across Leeds to reflect, learn and strengthen compassionate approaches in everyday work with children, families and communities.
The programme explores collaboration, trauma-informed practice and the role of language in building trust and reducing power imbalances in professional relationships.
Topics across the sessions include:
- understanding trauma and adversity
- strengthening collaboration in everyday practice
- recognising how trauma shapes engagement
- reflective and compassionate approaches to communication
- trauma-informed writing in work with children and families

Language Matters: Trauma-Informed Writing in Work with Children and Families
Friday 29 May 12:30pm to 2pm Online
This session explores how trauma-informed writing can help build trust, support compassionate practice and reshape the way behaviours and experiences are described in written records.
The session will include opportunities to:
- reflect on how language in written records shapes experiences and relationships
- explore how behaviours shaped by trauma may be misunderstood
- practise reframing common phrases into strengths-based, trauma-informed language
