Creating safe, welcoming spaces where people feel they belong is a core part of community wellbeing. Cultural Kitchen is a simple but powerful example of this in action.
Delivered by Angels of Freedom CIC in partnership with Being You Leeds, Cultural Kitchen brings people together over shared meals, conversation and connection. The focus is on creating a space where people from Leeds’ ethnically diverse queer communities can meet, feel welcome, and spend time together in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
Each session is community-led, with traditional, home-cooked food prepared by members of the group and shared around the table. It is as much about connection and belonging as it is about food.
Bookings are now open for the next session:

The evening typically includes a shared meal served around 7pm, with a mix of cultural dishes that vary each month. The space is informal, social and focused on wellbeing, offering an opportunity to meet new people and build connections.
The event is free to attend and is supported through a partnership with Being You Leeds. Donations are welcome to help sustain the wider work of Angels of Freedom CIC.
Important information:
Cultural Kitchen is a community-led food sharing event rather than a catering service. Food is prepared by different members each month using shared facilities, so it may not be suitable for those with allergies, intolerances or specific dietary requirements. Attendees are welcome to join for the social aspect, but should take this into account before booking.
Why the Cultural Kitchen Matters
Spaces like Cultural Kitchen play an important role in supporting community wellbeing, particularly for people who may not always feel represented or connected within mainstream services. They offer a way to build trust, reduce isolation and strengthen local networks through simple, shared experiences.
