Dementia Friendly Leeds will be hosting its annual community event on Friday 5 June 2026 from 10.30am to 1.30pm at Pudsey Civic Hall.
The event aims to bring people together to learn more about Dementia Friendly Leeds, raise awareness, create new opportunities and celebrate the work happening across the city to support people living with dementia.
The event is open to everyone, including people living with dementia, carers, family members, supporters, professionals, community organisations and local residents.
Pudsey Civic Hall offers a large free car park, accessible facilities, an onsite café and space for talks, performances and activities throughout the day.
Marketplace Stalls, Talks and Activities
Following positive feedback from previous years, the event will once again include a dementia-friendly marketplace featuring local organisations, businesses, groups and community projects from across Leeds.
There will also be talks, performances and taster sessions throughout the event.
Dementia Friendly Leeds is currently inviting organisations and individuals to get involved, including:
- hosting a stall or stand
- delivering a taster session
- performing
- sponsoring part of the event
Stalls and stands will showcase the wide range of dementia friendly support, services and activities available across Leeds. Priority will be given to official Age and Dementia Friendly organisations that have committed to taking annual actions to improve accessibility and inclusion.
If you would like to register interest in having a stall, complete the form here.
Please note that completing the form does not guarantee a place. Successful applicants will be contacted by Friday 15 May.
Researchers and projects wishing to engage with communities are also welcome to apply for a stand. Dementia Friendly Leeds has asked that researchers provide ethics documentation and notes that priority will be given to work that is co-produced and offers incentives for participants.
Dementia Action Week Programme
Dementia Friendly Leeds is also continuing to collect information about events taking place during Dementia Action Week.
Organisations and groups across Leeds are encouraged to submit activities, workshops and community events so they can be included in the wider city programme. Events taking place outside the official awareness week are also welcome.
The programme will then be shared through Dementia Friendly Leeds networks and website channels.
Friendly Communities Bake Sale
As part of the wider activity programme, a Friendly Communities Bake Sale will take place on Monday 18 May at Joseph’s Well from 11.30am to 2pm.
The bake sale is raising money to support Dementia Friendly Leeds and organisers are encouraging contributions from across the community. Sweet and savoury baking is welcome, including culturally diverse options and food that supports a range of dietary requirements to help make the event as inclusive as possible.
If you would like to contribute food or get involved, organisers are encouraging people to get in touch directly.
