To apply you have to login through the Health Equity Network. It is quick and easy to sign up to be a network member.

Membership is free and open to anyone with an interest in health equity. There is a short from to submit to sign up to be part of the network. It asks for a small amount of information about your work and interests in health equity. After you submit, you’ll receive an email invite to activate your account which enables you to login.

In partnership with the UCL Institute of Health Equity (IHE), Legal & General has recently announced the launch of a £3million ‘Health Equity’ Fund, to support community-based initiatives across the UK which are addressing the social determinants of health.

Who can apply and how can I help?

Please raise awareness of the opportunity amongst colleagues, charities, businesses, and community groups in your places with ideas for relevant initiatives or early-stage projects.

What is the process for applying?

  1. Connect with the Health Equity Network

  1. Share your initial interest

Interested parties with projects in the North East of England can submit expressions of interest through the Health Equity Network website from 04 June 2024, ahead of the launch of the official application process.

The UK-wide launch will open in the summer of 2024.

Key Highlights

  • The £3 million (mn) Fund will award grants to successful applicants to support place-based projects addressing the social determinants of health.
  • Provision of grant funding of up to £75,000 per project.
  • Insights and learnings will be gained through a £1mn (of the £3mn total) trailblazer Fund pilot in the North-East of England – before rolling out UK-wide this summer.
  • Potential to provide support for up to 150 place-based initiatives across the UK.
  • Example projects that the Fund may support could range from funding for inner-city schools in areas of deprivation to community programmes which address the social determinants behind pressures on A&E services, or partnerships raising awareness of the contribution the natural environment makes to health and wellbeing.
