As part of a new contract commissioned by Leeds City Council, Leeds Sexual Health has been completely redesigned to better serve the needs of the Leeds population and expand access.

Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH), in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT), Leeds GP Confederation (LGPC) and Volition – Forum Central (the collective voice for the health and care third sector in Leeds), have been awarded the contract to deliver sexual health services in the city from 1 July 2024.

What is changing?

From 26 June the Leeds Sexual Health service will no longer be based at the Merrion Centre. From 1 July, services and advice will be available more widely across Leeds with the main hub being Beeston Hill Health Centre, with additional access points at Armley Moor Health Centre, Chapeltown Health Centre, Seacroft Clinic and other trusted city centre spaces.

Changes include:

  • An improved Long Acting and Reversible Contraception (LARC) service, which includes the contraceptive coil, and implant. Supported by the partnership with Leeds GP Confederation, LARC will be accessible at more sites and during evenings and weekends.
  • E-consultation forms for existing Leeds Sexual Health service users taking PrEP medication, allowing them request this online if it is more convenient.
  • A single dedicated phoneline (0113 843 4495) staffed by care navigators to direct people to the most appropriate support for them.
  • We have doubled our dedicated walk-in sessions for young people which will be available in more areas across the city to support more convenient access.

A brand new digital hub is also being developed and will be launched later in 2024 for those that prefer the convenience and discretion of using online tools. You can share your thoughts and feedback on the current Leeds Sexual Health website and online resources using the link below, your input will help us design and make important decisions about the new digital hub.

How you can help

You can help by spreading the word to ensure all people who may need to access the service know how to do so – particularly young people, and people who may have previously have been put off accessing sexual health services when it involved travelling into the city centre.
