The Power of Communities weekly newsletter collates surveys, information requests or workshops that are happening across the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership and would like to ensure the voice of the VCSE sector and communities you support are fully represented. Here is a summary of their support and upcoming sessions/opportunities:
West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub is here to help!
https://wystaffwellbeinghub.co.uk/support-for-vcse
We know that no matter where you work in health and care or whether you are a staff or volunteer, that you may have to work in extremely challenging circumstances. Wellbeing is our priority across the Partnership, and people can and should expect support for their mental health and wellbeing.
In addition to support from your manager and/or your VCSE organisation, if you are experiencing feelings that are difficult to cope with, our mental health workers are here to support you now and find the extra help that is right for you. The service is completely confidential, wherever you work, and offers advice and support that can help with a range of issues.
If you are worried about your mental or emotional wellbeing, you can use the self-referral option into our psychological assessment and therapy service, specially set up to help you. Alternatively, the Hub has opened a new message-taking phone service. You can call 0800 183 1488 to get signposting to self-help resources and group support including critical incident support. We will aim to be in touch with you within 72 hours (excluding bank holidays).

Schwartz Round – Covid and Me: The invisible illness
When: 17 June 2024, 12- 1:30pm
To sign up to attend or become a storyteller, please contact: [email protected]
Schwartz Rounds are an initiative within health and care systems that aim to improve collaboration and empathy amongst our workforce. They often focus on themes providing a unique opportunity across the NHS, VCSE and others to discuss the emotional challenges we face when working in a safe space.
At each round we have ‘storytellers’ who share their experiences and insights so we can gain a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in care and each other fostering a culture of compassion and collaboration. Evidence shows that staff who attend Rounds feel less stressed and isolated, with increased insight and appreciation for each other’s roles.
Our next Schwartz Round, is focused on Covid and Me: The invisible illness on 17 June, noon. If you have been or continue to be impacted by covid and would like to attend, please email [email protected].
We are always looking for ‘storytellers’ for the above round and others where you:
- can share your story of theme being discussed
- will be supported by the trained psychologist and trained Schwartz Round practitioner
- will be reimbursed £75 for your time going to your VCSE organisation
If you would like to become a storyteller and share your story at a Schwartz Round, please email [email protected].
