A new community health service, called Being You Leeds has been launched by Touchstone!

Being You Leeds will replace and expand upon Touchstone’s current work with the Mentally Health Leeds and Your Space services, coordinating with partners across Leeds to provide a 7 day a week service, including evenings and weekends. The service will be led by Touchstone, working with partners Barca, Hamara, Health for All, Holbeck Together, LS14 Trust, and Women’s Health Matters.

As well as providing groups and working with other community groups in the city, the service will also have a mental health training element, which will be open to people working and volunteering in the third sector in Leeds and to communities too.

Touchstone will deliver Mental Health First Aid, Safe talk, Assist and tailored wellbeing courses in partnership with providers Community Links and Humans Beings.

Background

In early 2023, Touchstone, alongside partners Barca, Hamara, Health for All, Holbeck Together, LS14 Trust, and Women’s Health Matters, were awarded a Public Health’s new contract to deliver a city-wide preventative mental health service. Following a recent competition, in which service users, staff, and members of the public submitted suggestions, they feel the ultimate voted choice of Being You Leeds really reflects their aims, as a service, to support the people of Leeds to be supported to be their true selves, whoever they may be. Accordingly, the service will focus on supporting communities and individuals to stay well, connected, and engaged through a programme of activities and groups that protect and boost their health and wellbeing.
