Ageism, or negative attitudes about ageing, can affect both our physical and mental health.
A report by the Centre for Ageing Better (2023) found that older people with mental health concerns are more likely to be prescribed antidepressants and less likely to be referred for talking therapies than younger adults. But counselling and talking therapies can be just as helpful in later life.
Mindwell have introduced a new and updated section on their website, designed for older adults in Leeds. It covers a broad range of topics, including living with memory loss, support for carers, coping with loss and staying active and socially connected.
The page is currently being co-designed with the people it is intended for and offers a wealth of information for older adults around their mental health.
