Be Online and Stay Safe (BOSS), funded from 2022-2024, aimed to help older people in Leeds get more comfortable using digital technology.

It involved partnerships with organisations like 100% Digital Leeds and focused on teaching media literacy and how to spot misinformation online. The project received funding from DCMS/DSIT and worked with national mentors to make it happen.

A toolkit is now available for organisations and learners, developed by the partnership organisations involved in the BOSS programme. It covers:

  • Background and purpose of the guide
  • Identifying the potential need
  • Reviewing your capacity to deliver the activity
  • Preparing to deliver your activity
  • Running the activity and supporting people to learn
  • Designing sessions so people continue to apply what they have learned
  • Exploring ways to continue your activity
  • Measuring the impact of your activity
