A new Community Grocery is launching in Leeds this January, offering affordable food alongside wrap-around support for individuals and families facing food insecurity.

The Community Grocery is a partnership between North^ Church and The Message Trust. It operates as a membership model, helping bridge the gap between supermarkets and food banks. For £5 per year, members can access a fully stocked store and shop from just £5 per visit, typically saving around £25 each time.

Alongside affordable groceries, the space will also offer wider support, including a Community Café, Stay and Play sessions, Job Club, Alpha courses, and additional activities as the service develops.

Ahead of the public opening, organisations are invited to a pre-launch event aimed at community partners, local supporters and potential referral organisations.

Pre-launch event details:

  • Date: Tuesday 13 January

  • Time: 4:30–6:30pm

  • Location: North^ Church, 98 Kirkstall Road, Leeds, LS3 1HJ

The event is an opportunity to:

  • Visit the space before it opens

  • Learn how the model supports families through affordable food and wider support

  • Explore partnership and referral opportunities

  • Meet the team and connect with other local organisations

This may be particularly relevant for organisations working around poverty, food insecurity, family support and cost-of-living pressures.

To attend, reply to the invitation email with the names of those attending or share the invite with colleagues who may be interested.
