Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) are undertaking a thematic visit of Leeds City Council as part of the Area SEND inspection system. From 19 September 23 they will be in Leeds visiting local alternative provision settings, only a selection will be visited and providers will be notified beforehand (up to 10 working days) before their visit. They will want to speak to practitioners and workers as well as speaking to children, young people and families in those settings to hear their experiences. Inspectors will also want to meet with local leaders and managers involved in the commissioning and governance of alternative provision in Leeds.
You can find out more about how the review will be conducted here: Ofsted and CQC thematic review of local alternative provision. Learning from the Leeds review will contribute to a wider report looking at alternative provision across the country.
These inspections will impact teams providing SEND and alternative provision for 5 to 18 year olds, so please support and be mindful of how busy teams will be at this time.
