Strengthening collaboration between people working in the housing and health sectors is one of the 12 priorities of the Leeds Health and Wellbeing Strategy. The evidence for the link between housing and health and wellbeing is compelling, with poor housing conditions increase the risk of severe ill health and disability by 25% in childhood and early adulthood, costing the NHS £1.4bn each year.
Leeds City Council and local NHS staff are hosting a training session which will bring together housing and health staff working in the West areas of the city to improve knowledge and understanding of health and housing issues and build relationships between staff on the ground.
The event is aimed at health and care staff, including third sector partners, in the West and North West of Leeds covering West Leeds LCP, Bramley, Wortley & Middleton LCP, Armley LCP and Woodsley & Holt Park LCP.
The session will be interactive, featuring short presentations covering a variety of housing and health topics, market stalls to learn about services on offer and opportunities to chat to health and housing colleagues working in your area to learn more about their roles.
