Voluntary Action Leeds is hosting an important training session exploring the myths and misconceptions that drive anti-Muslim hate. With anti-Muslim prejudice and Islamophobia rising across the UK, this session offers a practical and accessible introduction for anyone wanting to understand the issue and take positive action in their community or workplace.

Project Unity, led by Better Communities Bradford, is a national initiative designed to challenge harmful stereotypes, build understanding, and support more inclusive, cohesive communities. This introductory workshop forms part of that wider programme.

What the session covers

Participants will:

  • Develop an initial understanding of anti-Muslim hate in the UK and its impact on communities

  • Explore common myths and misconceptions about Muslims and Islam

  • Look at how media, politics, and public narratives can influence bias

  • Learn about shared values and contributions within Muslim communities

  • Reflect on how individuals and organisations can begin challenging anti-Muslim prejudice
